Incase Travel Dop Kit

May 13th, 2009 · No Comments

incase-travel-dop-kit

I really wish I had discovered this before venturing out of the country for the summer. The Incase Travel Dop Kit is a mini case meant for your iPhone, iPod and other goodies that need some extra protection. The case has a fur lined pocket with cord management, mesh pockets and a removable accessory clip. It’s a simple case, but  I have a thing for bags whether they are small, big or whatever their function. Especially if they are made with the attention and quality of Incase bags.

New Album Coming From Passion Pit

May 10th, 2009 · No Comments

passionpit-2

Within the past year I can really only think of a handful of albums that were realeased that made a big impression on me. One of those just so happened to be an EP released by Passion Pit. Since the release of that EP I have been anxiously awaiting a full length ablum from Passion Pit, and it’s coming soon. Manners is the title of the new album and it’s going to be released on the 19th of May. Here is a little peek into the album… a track by the name of ‘Moth’s Wings’. You can also preview the rest of the album over at Amazon.

Del Releases Free Album

May 9th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I go in and out of phases where I will listen to hip-hop, and I don’t post about it much here. However, I think what Del The Funky Homosapien is doing with his new album The Stimulus Package is pretty noteworthy. He has not only funded the entire album on his own, doing it completely independent, but he is also making it available free to download. The album is available at his page on Bandcamp (which is also a really great site for musicians).

Hypetape

May 1st, 2009 · No Comments

hypetape

Hypetape claims to be the lovechild of Muxtape and Hype Machine. While it’s obvious the website is inspired by the overly-simplistic interface of Muxtape, and seems to work much like the original semi-controversal Muxtape, it’s actually more like what Muxtape should have been. You are able to create your own profile, and then search music and create multiple playlists (one big feature the original Muxtape was lacking).  It’s not clear as to where Hypetape gets their music, but apparently it doesn’t actually get any MP3s from Hype Machine. Regardless it’s a neat, simple little website. We’ll see if it last’s without the man shutting it down.

So it has been a while since I have posted here at TheDopeFiend and I honestly can’t think of a better way to come back than to bring you this remix Hot Pink Delorean has done of Designer Drugs‘ ‘ZOMBIES!’. The original track is amazing to begin with. I didn’t think it anyone could have made it harder than it already is, but Hot Pink Delorean managed to take the ZOMBIES! and put there own evil metal twist on it that makes it a complete headbanger of a track. It literally game me goosebumps the first time hearing it. I suggest you download it now!

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Limited Edition Supra Stubb’s Skytop: SXSW Edition

March 18th, 2009 · No Comments

Supra and Stubb's

I am not what you would call a “sneaker head” by any means, but I think this collabaration between Supra and Stubb’s Bar-B-Q is pretty unique. The shoe is called the Stubb’s Skytop and is being released at SXSW in Austin, TX this Friday. Apparently Stubb’s Bar-B-Q is known for its amazing barbeque sauce as well as being a great venue to see live music. The special edition package will include a pair of Stubb’s Skytops, a 2009 SXSW apron, a bottle of Stubb’s sauce, all inside a handmade wooden numbered box that is branded with the 2009 SXSW seal. There are only 50 of these packages being sold, so if you are at SXSW and want to go stand in a long ass line in the Austin heat to pay a shit load of money for some really cool kicks you had better be at Stubb’s! Info Below.

Eliss for the iPhone/iPod Touch

March 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

elise

Eliss is a game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that caught my attention from the second I heard the soundtrack and saw the semi-8-bit style graphics. The game was developed by Steph Thirion who seems to have a background in this “retro” style gaming and design. It took me a bit to get a hang of the game, but after I did I was hooked. Even if the game wasn’t fun I would still play it just to hear the soundtrack. Eliss has a reasonable price tag of $3.99 and is available at the iTunes App Store.

Chris Cornel On NPR

March 15th, 2009 · 2 Comments

The other day I was listening to an interview on NPR with lead singer of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell. The interview was about his recent project with the well known producer Timbaland. Timbaland has worked with a wide variety of artists, but I think it’s obvious most people wouldn’t have expected Chris Cornell to team up with him. In the interview Cornell talks about how they got together and his reasoning for changing up his sound. I think he comes of as a really intelligent guy. I don’t particularly care for the music much, but I have a lot of respect for artists that are willing to try something different.
