Stuff posted in the ‘Dosage’ Category is a comprehensive, user driven blog that looks at the world’s youth and the styles that they wear. Users are able to post photos of their favorites outfits and styles as well as view, and post comments about other users’ looks. Surprisingly the site has very few shots-from-above-in-the-bathroom-Myspace-style photos, and lots of shots that look like they were taken right out of a magazine fashion spread. The photos are tagged with information about the user’s clothing, and users can search through different groups, as well as labels, designers and categories. Whether you are looking for inspiration from others, or a exhibitionist fashionista, is a site to check out.

Poladroid Project

Poladroid is one of the coolest little applications I have found in a long time. For those of us who were saddened when Polaroid announced they would be discontinuing the production of their film, Poladroid helps fill a small part of that hole left in your heart. The application, which is only available for Mac OSX at the moment (available for Windows in November), creates very realistic looking “fauxlaroids” of any digital photo. Simply drag and drop your photo into the neat little app and it virtually processes the photo for you. It’s available for free download, and they also have a Flickr group full of cool photos.

MTV Music. Wait, What?!

The people have spoken and MTV has answered, kinda. The “Music Television Network” is still not playing actual music videos on their channel, however they have done something that is almost better in my opinion. MTV Music seems to be a very nice answer to those who have been complaining about the abundance of reality TV junk that litters the channel that is known for killing the radio star. It is a simple, clean website that does exactly what it’s supposed to, makes music videos easily browsed and viewed. It’s not just recent music videos either. They have made available an enormous library of classics, new videos and videos that never would have been played on MTV anyway like The Presets, The Black Ghosts, and this live performance of “Hustler” by Simian Mobile Disco.  Props to MTV, I can see my self using this website everyday.

Summer Heights High VS Mimobot Giveaway

In celebration of the kickoff of HBO’s new comedy series, Summer Heights High, HBO and Mimobot teamed up for this limited edition Mimobot of the character Ja’mie from the series. Summer Heights High is a peek into the life of an Australian public high-school, focusing on three characters: Mr. G, a self-important, high-strung drama teacher; Ja’mie, a haughty, private-school female exchange student spending the year at Summer Heights High; and Jonah, a delinquent, break-dancing obsessed student struggling to stay in school. Series creator and writer Chris Lilley plays all three lead roles. From the looks of the sneak-peek teasers the series has the potential to be hilarious.

TheDopeFiend managed to get its hands on a few of these Mimobots to give away to you! All you have to do is have a look at the sneak-peek videos and leave a comment on this post telling us which Summer Heights High character is your favorite. Get to it, these are limited edition 1GB Mimobot flash drives and the contest ends on November 9th!

Betaunit ‘08 Fall/Winter Line

When I recently stumbled upon the new Fall/Winter line by Betaunit I was not only really impressed with their designs, I was also really shocked when I discovered that they were based out of Los Angeles. When you first look at the clothing you would think the line was based somewhere in Europe. I really like the fact that they are experimenting with designs other than just t-shirts. For example the design shown called the “Welsh”. Another piece I really found interesting was the “Born“. This is a hoodie that has a zip-off removable hood, and detaches in a way that I have never seen before. Their t-shirt line is also really cool with a neo-psychadelic look. The designs remind me of the MGMT video for “Electric Eel“.

Incase Parra Slider

Incase has been making quality products for years. Not only are they high quality, but they look good and are always designed well. In general I am not super keen on iPhone cases. Most of them are bulky, rubbery and really detract for the iPhone’s sleek design. However, If there was one iPhone case I would use it would most likely be Incase’s Slider Case. The case is protective with its internal rubber gaurdrails, but doesn’t detract too much from the iPhone’s sleekness with its 1mm thin plastic case. The case shown above is a special new design done by the artist Parra. It will be available October 24th at the Incase webstore, select Apple Stores and Arktip.

For those of you who are bummed out about the death of Muxtape, or even for those of you who never even used Muxtape… Favtape is going to change the way you listen to music. If you don’t know Muxtape, it was a very simple online playlist builder, allowing you to upload MP3s and share personal mixtapes. Favtape is a very similar concept as Muxtape, only gives you much more freedom. The cool thing that separates Favtape is that you don’t upload your music. Favtape searches sites that already have huge databases of music, so unlike Muxtape, there is no limit to the amount on songs your playlists can have. Not only that, but again unlike Muxtape, you can have multiple playlists. This was one of the main reasons I never really got into Muxtape, it really limited the personalization of your playlists. These features plus a handfull of others makes Favtape one of my “fav” new music websites.

With websites like, Pandora and now Favtape I can see needing massive amounts of hard drive storage for your music becoming less necessary. Why waste all that space on your hard drive when you can build your own playlists and listen to it on demand for free?!

I made this little mixtape in a matter of minutes.

In Your Closet NYC

I hate Ebay. Truly can’t stand it. But In Your Closet NYC is one of the cooler websites I have seen utilizing Ebay. If you are living in New York City and have some extra stuff laying around in your closet that you want to get rid of, In Your Closet NYC will raid your closet and sell it on Ebay. It’s kind of like consignment that makes house calls. It looks like much of what they specialize in is more vintage looking clothing, but they will also sell your books, toys and more. So whether you are are looking to buy some cool shit, or live in NYC and want to sell some cool shit In Your Closet NYC has your back.

Keep Company

Keep Company has a really unique line of shoes. I must say I haven’t seen many other kicks like these, but I really like them. They are apparently designed and made for women, but have quite a strong following of guys that wear them as well. Many of their styles are unisex looking, and I would rock quite a few of them. All of their shoes are “cruelty free’, which I am assuming means they use no animal products in any of their designs. Best of all it looks like almost all of their style are on sale right now, visit their site and check it out.

GRN Apple Tree – Women’s Line

I have been a big fan of GRN Apple tree for a long time now. I am happy to see that they are taking the dive into a women’s cut-and-sew line, and from the looks of it they have done a great job for their first attempt. In most cases when designing women’s clothing I think there is more room to be creative with the cuts and overall design, and they have taken advantage of it. The piece shown above is a good example of this. The line should be available in retail stores by the holidays, keep your eye out.

Poketo T-Shirts

You have most likely seen Poketo’s awesome artist wallets. But what you may not know is Poketo also has a really cool line of t-shirts as well. Most of them have a really artsy hand-drawn type feel to them that I really like. They are reasonably priced, many of them as cheap as $18.

I am really digging the Diamonds design and Deer in the City.

Hooray For Earth – Surrounded By Your Friends (Twin Shadow Remix)

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Twin Shadow has been making some waves throughout the internets lately. I recently purchased his new album Forget, and I must say I quite like it. I am also really liking this remix he has done for Hooray For Earth, who I had never heard of before this song, but will surely be checking them out after hearing it.

Muscles – Girl Crazy Go (Muscles Inception Remix)

Monday, October 18th, 2010

The last I heard of Muscles he had quit the music business because of problems with his label Modular. This disappointed me because I love his music. However, I was happy to see that if the rumors were true at the time he has apparently changed his mind. A new EP by Muscles titled Younger & Immature is due out October 29.

Here’s a remix of the first single from the EP ‘Girl Crazy Go’. Check out the music video for the original version here. From the sounds of it Muscles hasn’t lost his musical touch, or his ego.

Sleigh Bells – Run the Heart (Bassnectar Remix)

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Music by Bassnectar isn’t something I would normally post here. For the most part I feel his stuff is for dirty rave hippies, and if you read this blog at all you probably know how I feel about the wobbly bass-heavy Dubstep. That being said this remix done of Sleigh Bells‘ song ‘Run the Heart’ is still bass-heavy, but not completely overboard. It also manages to keep a lot of what makes the original track so good.

Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette – Hello

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Chances are if you spend any amount of time on the internet you have heard ‘Hello’ by Martin Solveig featuring the lovely Dragonette (considering it went number one on Hype Machine). But I couldn’t resist posting this super-fun dance-pop masterpiece. It’s basically impossible not to want to dance to this song. I don’t know a lot about Martin Solveig, but from what I have heard and seen so far I am liking his stuff. Purchase the EP with several remixes on Beatport now.

Millionyoung – Local Joke (Neon Indian Cover)

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Millionyoung, aka Mike Diaz, is shaping up to be one of my favorite artist of 2010. I really love this cover he has done of Neon Indian’s ‘Local Joke’. He adds his own personality to the song, so much that it sounds as though he could have written it. I am looking forward to a full-length album from him.
