New Remix of Bloc Party’s Kele
Kele from Bloc Party gets track remixed by RAC.

I have always had a thing for unique wallets. For years I have been admiring the designs done by Poketo. The ‘Mighty’ wallets done by Dynomighty Design look somewhat similar to Poketo, but they are printed on a recyclable material called Tyvek® (which they compare to an express shipping envelope). The wallets will only set you back $15 each, and come in many different styles.

In a nutshell Chictopia is a place for girls to share, discuss, browse, read about and shop all things that are fashion. The website is a community that allows you to join and the participate by uploading photos of your own styles, as well as rating other girls’ style. I really enjoy browsing websites like this not only for entertainment but for a source of inspiration.
The UK label Boxfresh known for their awesome threads has released photos of their new shoe line coming out in the second quarter of this year. From the photos provided they all look to be a loafer-style, with thin soles. The model shown above, called the Sipp, is my personal favorite. I love the velcro strap and the large perferated area. Very slick. The line will be available at Coutie when they are released. More photos after the jump.
Lately I have had a thing for simple, duotoned or black and white tees. Grizzly Nights have a line that features fairly basic, but yet bold designs. The tees are designed, hand screen printed and labeled by Grizzly Nights themselves. I really enjoy the minimal approach, using black and white, basic shapes and hand drawn illustrations.
There’s no doubt Nooka makes some of the coolest watches I have ever seen, and they have added yet another amazing timepiece to their collection. The new limited edition watch is a collaboration with the bad girl streetwear label Hellz. Although the collaboration is with a women’s brand I would say it looks unisex, I know I would wear it.

Alex & Chloe is well known for their unique and stylish jewelery, but they have also introduced a t-shirt line that I quite like. Their minimal designs are what attracted me to the line. Using large over sized prints, basic shapes, colors and gradients for most of their tees. The line is a bit pricey for what I would normally pay for a t-shirt, but some of their tees are on sale right now which brings them down to an almost reasonable price.
During my recent visit to NYC I didn’t get a bunch of time to check out shops and boutiques. However, I did get a chance to stop by 55DSL’s shop, and I was more impressed than I thought I would be. I really like 55DSL’s clothing and the overall feel of the brand. With their recently announced Logo Remix Contest 55DSL has partnered up with Cut&Paste to give you the opportunity to put thier own spin on their brand. Submit your own “remix” of the 55DSL Sheild logo in a way that represents the companie’s culture and spirit and you could have the chance to win 1,055€. Not only that but your remixed logo will be featured on a t-shirt in the company’s 2010 line. Creative people get to crackin’, the contest ends December 5th.
LOOKBOOK.nu is a comprehensive, user driven blog that looks at the world’s youth and the styles that they wear. Users are able to post photos of their favorites outfits and styles as well as view, and post comments about other users’ looks. Surprisingly the site has very few shots-from-above-in-the-bathroom-Myspace-style photos, and lots of shots that look like they were taken right out of a magazine fashion spread. The photos are tagged with information about the user’s clothing, and users can search through different groups, as well as labels, designers and categories. Whether you are looking for inspiration from others, or a exhibitionist fashionista, LOOKBOOK.nu is a site to check out.
When I recently stumbled upon the new Fall/Winter line by Betaunit I was not only really impressed with their designs, I was also really shocked when I discovered that they were based out of Los Angeles. When you first look at the clothing you would think the line was based somewhere in Europe. I really like the fact that they are experimenting with designs other than just t-shirts. For example the design shown called the “Welsh”. Another piece I really found interesting was the “Born“. This is a hoodie that has a zip-off removable hood, and detaches in a way that I have never seen before. Their t-shirt line is also really cool with a neo-psychadelic look. The designs remind me of the MGMT video for “Electric Eel“.
I hate Ebay. Truly can’t stand it. But In Your Closet NYC is one of the cooler websites I have seen utilizing Ebay. If you are living in New York City and have some extra stuff laying around in your closet that you want to get rid of, In Your Closet NYC will raid your closet and sell it on Ebay. It’s kind of like consignment that makes house calls. It looks like much of what they specialize in is more vintage looking clothing, but they will also sell your books, toys and more. So whether you are are looking to buy some cool shit, or live in NYC and want to sell some cool shit In Your Closet NYC has your back.
Keep Company has a really unique line of shoes. I must say I haven’t seen many other kicks like these, but I really like them. They are apparently designed and made for women, but have quite a strong following of guys that wear them as well. Many of their styles are unisex looking, and I would rock quite a few of them. All of their shoes are “cruelty free’, which I am assuming means they use no animal products in any of their designs. Best of all it looks like almost all of their style are on sale right now, visit their site and check it out.
I have been a big fan of GRN Apple tree for a long time now. I am happy to see that they are taking the dive into a women’s cut-and-sew line, and from the looks of it they have done a great job for their first attempt. In most cases when designing women’s clothing I think there is more room to be creative with the cuts and overall design, and they have taken advantage of it. The piece shown above is a good example of this. The line should be available in retail stores by the holidays, keep your eye out.
You have most likely seen Poketo’s awesome artist wallets. But what you may not know is Poketo also has a really cool line of t-shirts as well. Most of them have a really artsy hand-drawn type feel to them that I really like. They are reasonably priced, many of them as cheap as $18.
I am really digging the Diamonds design and Deer in the City.

Adam Kesher has just made available for download a four track collection of his own remixes. My favorite of the collection is this remix done for Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall’. It’s a short (just under three minutes), happy tune with vocoded male vocals and female vocals that contrast nicely. Head over to the Disque Primeur Facebook page to download all four remixes free. Adam Kesher also has a new album due out in August called Challenging Nature, so keep your eye out for that.

Last night I saw Delorean in concert. As I expected they were amazing, but I was also impressed by one of the opening acts Glasser. Glasser was one of those artists in my music library who I had listened to, filed away and forgotten to check into further. That is until I saw her performance last night. I recommend giving these tracks a listen and if you get the opportunity check her out live.

Nacey is a duo out of Washington D.C. that not only are a part of the city’s biggest club night, but have also been making waves as producers over the past couple years. This remix they have done of ‘Steppin’ Up’ from M.I.A.’s latest album isn’t exactly a dance floor banger, but good nevertheless. It’s got a cool melodic piano track and hard-hitting head-bobbing bassline. The duo recently released a seven track EP titled Time Run Out and is available now here.
