Anymore these days I listen to NPR more than almost anything else (maybe it’s because I am getting old). This is why the NPR Radio by Livio caught my eye. The idea is a simple one, which is many times a good thing. The radio broadcasts NPR via WIFI and allows you to bookmark your favorite programs. Also a portion of the proceeds actually go to NPR.

Ever wonder what your favorite bands’ favorite foods are? Check out the new show on IFC Original Series called Dinner With the Band every Tuesday night. I was first turned on to Yours Truly from a video they had done about Delorean. Yours Truly is a group in San Francisco that seem to have their hands in a lot of creative outlets focusing mainly on journalism, video production, photography and graphic design. They have done work with Current TV, Pitchfork, XLR8R, Stereogum, URB and more. I really enjoy their videos that give an intimate look into the lives of bands like Cut Copy, Passion Pit, Delorean, Girls, Nosaj Thing and a bunch more. I could spend all day watching their videos.

The other day I came across the street art of Italian native CT. His graphic street art is unlike that of any I have seen. I am blown away at his amazingly clean lines, use of geometric typography and colors he uses. I recommend checking out this gallery of his works.

I never knew about indie video game development until a friend of mine (who works developing video games) told me about an amazing game called Braid. I watched him complete the entire game in one sitting one night in Shanghai while having some beers at his house. That was my introduction to indie gaming. Indie Game: The Movie is a documentary being made about the Indie Game culture, the people who make and the people who play the games.

In any industry adapting for the digital age is a challenge, but it’s been especially difficult for the publishing industry. The thought of printed magazines slowly disappearing one by one is sad. 48 Hour Magazine is challenging the traditional methods of magazine publishing by keeping overhead costs low and doing exactly what the name implies… writing, photographing, illustrating, designing, editing, laying it out, printing and shipping it in a matter of 48 hours! I really enjoy seeing how people with passion and the will to adapt can make make things work when the big guys are scratching their heads wondering why they can’t make any money. 48 Hour Magazine just released their first issue and is available now for $10 at MagCloud.

I’ve always thought you can learn a lot about someone just by taking a look around their home, and I feel some of the most interesting ones are those of artists. Wow, this trailer looks amazing. I honestly feel that there aren’t enough quality movies done on Electro and representing the culture in a good light. Can’t wait to see this.

The Coachella episode of the Face Hunter Show. Talking with So-Me, Bronques, Jeremy Scott, Erlend Øye and of course the usual Coachella suspects.

XLR8R has written a wrap-up on Coachella this year. Their take on the festival is a bit jaded and cynical as they tend to be sometimes, but their view on what they call “Dubstep Crusties” is pretty hilarious.

“As dubstep has become the de facto rave music of the West Coast, crusty hippies have ditched Phish in favor of Bassnectar and the DJs at the Do Lab, a tropically themed tent that stood amidst Coachella’s five main stages. The dubstep featured was of the wobbly, beef-tenderizing variety rather than Kode9 or Burial, which was totally fine with the nu-ravers covered in burlap-sack clothing and glow-thingies. For some reason, the distinct scent of beached salmon clung to the area by Sunday.”

If you can’t tell by now, besides a few exceptions, I am not much of a Dubstep fan.
