The Presets – If I Know You Video

The Presets have just released a video for the track “If I know You” off their album Apocalypto. They have chosen French director Eva Husson who also did the video for M83’s “Kim and Jessie”. This track isn’t one of my favorites from the album, but I really like the video and how it goes along with the song. It could have easily crossed over into being pretty corny, but the way it was filmed and produced made for a really cool video.

NPR’s Exclusive First Listen

I have been a fan of NPR for some time now. I would like to congratulate them on their new segment called Exclusive First Listen. The segment is hosted by Bob Boilen who talks with selected artists that are about to release a new album. The artists are interviewed about the albums and listeners are also able to submit their own questions via chat. I find it really interesting to hear first hand what the artist/artists had in mind when creating their music. Not only that, but Listeners are able to visit NPR’s website and listen to the entire album that is featured for that show. The show is fairly new but already they have featured Animal Collective talking about their new album Merriweather Post Pavilion, and Andrew Bird talking about his new album Noble Beast. I believe they are in the works of doing a show with Dan Deacon, so I am excited to hear that.

Flight of the Conchords Season 2 Premier

Discovering comedies that I actually find funny is a hard thing to do these days. It seem like Hollywood puts Will Farrell in his underwear farting in someone’s face and it’s a hit. Sadly most of those movies lost their appeal long ago. However, finding out that HBO is premiering season 2 of Flight of the Conchords this Sunday completely made my day. If you haven’t yet discovered the hilariousness of Flight of the Conchords now is the time. HBO has made the entire first episode of season 2 available to watch on their website. Me, I am going to wait until it airs and watch it in all its glory on the widescreen. But if you want a taste of how funny the show is I suggest you check it out.

My Wish List

In order to help my friends and family out with their Christmas shopping I devised a little list of realistic wishables. I know it’s a bit late, but just in case you are able to add a few more things to your own wish list I thought I might share some suggestions of things you might like as well.

At the top of the list is the WESC Stretch Armstrong Bagpipe Headphones. Even though WESC makes quality stuff, at first I had reservations about these. But after listening to them, and then seeing this colorway with the maroon and baby blue I was sold. Read more below to see more goods that topped my list.

Touchgrind

Fingerboarding is one of those things that I never understood how people get so good at. I used to watch videos of kids doing some insane things with fingerboards. It seems kind of silly when you think about it, but takes a lot of coordination. The same goes for the new iPhone/iPod Touch game out by Illusion Labs called Touchgrind. The game is basically a virtual fingerboard that you control with different finger combinations. It’s obvious a lot of time has gone into this game. The physics are very lifelike and there are different skate parks and games you can play within the game. For only five bucks you can spend hours trying to master this virtual fingerboard.

The skis are available for purchase now.

Also make sure to check out the desktops Jared did for suicide girls, pretty hot stuff.

Across The Universe Release!

I just got word that Justice’s highly anticipated and hyped documentary A Cross the Universe will be released exclusively on iTunes tomorrow along with thier live tour album. This is the first time iTunes has offered long form music video for download. The documentary that runs at just over an hour long is bundled with the album and can be downloaded for just $14.99. Having been to a couple of these events myself, just watching the clips and trailer from this documentary gives me goose bumps. I think I will be forced to purchase the download from iTunes, as well as the hard copy that will be released on December 9th (which is why they are doing this I am sure). To see brand new clips from the movie click read more below.

Denis Darzacq’s Amazing Photography

When I came across the work of French photographer Denis Darzacq it really struck me. The photos that he takes of his subjects floating in the air are not only baffling, but also quite eerie. The spaces that he chooses really add to the almost supernatural feel of the photos. I almost wish I hadn’t seen how he does it, it kind of spoils the mystery, but it you want to see for yourself check out a short documentary about the process. It’s less of an “illusion” than you might think.

55 DSL Logo Remix Contest

During my recent visit to NYC I didn’t get a bunch of time to check out shops and boutiques. However, I did get a chance to stop by 55DSL’s shop, and I was more impressed than I thought I would be. With their recently announced Logo Remix Contest 55DSL has partnered up with Cut&Paste to give you the opportunity to put thier own spin on their brand. Submit your own “remix” of the 55DSL Sheild logo in a way that represents the companie’s culture and spirit and you could have the chance to win 1,055€. LOOKBOOK.nu

LOOKBOOK.nu is a comprehensive, user driven blog that looks at the world’s youth and the styles that they wear. Users are able to post photos of their favorites outfits and styles as well as view, and post comments about other users’ looks. Surprisingly the site has very few shots-from-above-in-the-bathroom-Myspace-style photos, and lots of shots that look like they were taken right out of a magazine fashion spread. The photos are tagged with information about the user’s clothing, and users can search through different groups, as well as labels, designers and categories. Whether you are looking for inspiration from others, or a exhibitionist fashionista, LOOKBOOK.nu is a site to check out.

Hooray For Earth – Surrounded By Your Friends (Twin Shadow Remix)

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Twin_Shadow

Twin Shadow has been making some waves throughout the internets lately. I recently purchased his new album Forget, and I must say I quite like it. I am also really liking this remix he has done for Hooray For Earth, who I had never heard of before this song, but will surely be checking them out after hearing it.

Muscles – Girl Crazy Go (Muscles Inception Remix)

Monday, October 18th, 2010

musclesyim

The last I heard of Muscles he had quit the music business because of problems with his label Modular. This disappointed me because I love his music. However, I was happy to see that if the rumors were true at the time he has apparently changed his mind. A new EP by Muscles titled Younger & Immature is due out October 29.

Here’s a remix of the first single from the EP ‘Girl Crazy Go’. Check out the music video for the original version here. From the sounds of it Muscles hasn’t lost his musical touch, or his ego.

Sleigh Bells – Run the Heart (Bassnectar Remix)

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Sleigh+Bells+sleighbells1

Music by Bassnectar isn’t something I would normally post here. For the most part I feel his stuff is for dirty rave hippies, and if you read this blog at all you probably know how I feel about the wobbly bass-heavy Dubstep. That being said this remix done of Sleigh Bells‘ song ‘Run the Heart’ is still bass-heavy, but not completely overboard. It also manages to keep a lot of what makes the original track so good.

Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette – Hello

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

dragonette-martin

Chances are if you spend any amount of time on the internet you have heard ‘Hello’ by Martin Solveig featuring the lovely Dragonette (considering it went number one on Hype Machine). But I couldn’t resist posting this super-fun dance-pop masterpiece. It’s basically impossible not to want to dance to this song. I don’t know a lot about Martin Solveig, but from what I have heard and seen so far I am liking his stuff. Purchase the EP with several remixes on Beatport now.

Millionyoung – Local Joke (Neon Indian Cover)

Friday, October 1st, 2010

million-young

Millionyoung, aka Mike Diaz, is shaping up to be one of my favorite artist of 2010. I really love this cover he has done of Neon Indian’s ‘Local Joke’. He adds his own personality to the song, so much that it sounds as though he could have written it. I am looking forward to a full-length album from him.
