Not Your Dad’s Laptop Bag

For all of those who own a laptop and are sick and tired of carrying around some lame-ass leather brief-case-lookin-thing that could have been a “hand me down” from your grandpa, InCase is here to save the day. Last month while I was in Denver I got the chance to visit the Apple Store there and they had a bunch of these bags there. I fell in love. Unfortunatly they didn’t have this little baby featured above. InCase also makes a lot of other fresh bags for iPods, Guitars and more. I am gonna be sportin’ one of these next paycheck for sure.

Shoe Gazing

These new Nikes are dope, I would like to get my hands on a pair, but I am sure they are going to be outrageously priced. I mean I like my sneaks, but $300.00 for a pair of shoes is a little steep for me. I am amazed at how crazy people get about their sneakers, it’s like an ever-growing cult of sneaker freaks that would give their left arm for a pair of limited edition Addidas Jeremy Scott kicks. For those of you who are already into the whole “foot candy” world I am sure you know about these, but for those wanting to know more about it here are some shoe sites for ya:

:: Hypebeast
:: The Daily Sneaker Blog
:: JB Classics Online
;; Sneaker Pimps
:: Sneaker Freaker

And those are just a few, check ‘em out and jump on the shoe-head bandwagon.

Graffiti Analyisis Projections

This seems pretty interesting, Evan Roth has a project in on display at Parson’s gallery in NYC in which previously recorded images of graffiti artists are projected on to buildings and monuments.

Interview Magazine Goes to Tokyo

The new Interview Magazine is a must have. Featuring interviews with Bape’s main main Nigo, US co-ed/Japanese pop star Utada (who I am 100% head over heals for), Puffy Ami Yumi, Kill Bill’s super-hot school girl Chiaki Kuriyama, artist/genius Takashi Murakami and more. I am going to buy it today!

KING OF ‘ZINE

There are crazy thoughts running through my head wanting to enter the King of ‘Zine contest sponsored by Tokion, but then I remember I already tried the printed mag thing, and ended up in debt. So all of those out there willing to give it a shot, Tokion is promising big prizes for the best photocopied magazine, give it a shot!

Honda Causin Ruckus

For those of you looking for a inexpensive way to get around but you are wanting to stand out from the “Mod” crouwd with all their Vespas, Honda introduces The Ruckus. This little baby is a bit tougher than your average scooter.

The Unkown Art Gallery

Recently a local artist by the name of Kleptoh told me about The Unknown Gallery, also known as UNK. I checked it out and it looks like it has got some cool stuff going on. The 1,400 square foot space, located in the Artspace Rubber Company building on second south, has got a distinctive urban feel unlike most art galleries in SLC. The Unknown Gallery is currently showing SEED featuring recent works by: David Ruhlman, Cein Watson, Lincoln Lysager Aleksandr Taymer, and Travis Dinsmore. It looks like they have some interesting shows on the horizon so keep your eye out.

New Local Magazine

There is a new local magazine published out of Kaysville called “Elevation 9350” that looks really cool. The magazine is mainly a Skate, Snowboard and Wakeboard magazine, but also includes some other random stuff. With SLC being one of the largest snowboarding hubs in the nation I am surprised something like this hasn’t come out sooner. The magazine is similar to SLUG as far as print quality goes, but it’s layout and photographs are better. Their first issue recently came out, I found it at Gandolfo’s downtown but I am sure they have stocked up all the local skate and snowboard shops around so check it out.

The london Police

The London Police is a group of street artists based in Amsterdam that I think is very cool. Their style is so simple, yet so original and can be recognized at a glance. They pride themselves in the line quility of their art, and they should, it’s damn good. Check out the video section on the site and it demonstrates how steady they are with their main weapon of choice, the Sharpie.

Hooray For Earth – Surrounded By Your Friends (Twin Shadow Remix)

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Twin_Shadow

Twin Shadow has been making some waves throughout the internets lately. I recently purchased his new album Forget, and I must say I quite like it. I am also really liking this remix he has done for Hooray For Earth, who I had never heard of before this song, but will surely be checking them out after hearing it.

Muscles – Girl Crazy Go (Muscles Inception Remix)

Monday, October 18th, 2010

musclesyim

The last I heard of Muscles he had quit the music business because of problems with his label Modular. This disappointed me because I love his music. However, I was happy to see that if the rumors were true at the time he has apparently changed his mind. A new EP by Muscles titled Younger & Immature is due out October 29.

Here’s a remix of the first single from the EP ‘Girl Crazy Go’. Check out the music video for the original version here. From the sounds of it Muscles hasn’t lost his musical touch, or his ego.

Sleigh Bells – Run the Heart (Bassnectar Remix)

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Sleigh+Bells+sleighbells1

Music by Bassnectar isn’t something I would normally post here. For the most part I feel his stuff is for dirty rave hippies, and if you read this blog at all you probably know how I feel about the wobbly bass-heavy Dubstep. That being said this remix done of Sleigh Bells‘ song ‘Run the Heart’ is still bass-heavy, but not completely overboard. It also manages to keep a lot of what makes the original track so good.

Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette – Hello

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

dragonette-martin

Chances are if you spend any amount of time on the internet you have heard ‘Hello’ by Martin Solveig featuring the lovely Dragonette (considering it went number one on Hype Machine). But I couldn’t resist posting this super-fun dance-pop masterpiece. It’s basically impossible not to want to dance to this song. I don’t know a lot about Martin Solveig, but from what I have heard and seen so far I am liking his stuff. Purchase the EP with several remixes on Beatport now.

Millionyoung – Local Joke (Neon Indian Cover)

Friday, October 1st, 2010

million-young

Millionyoung, aka Mike Diaz, is shaping up to be one of my favorite artist of 2010. I really love this cover he has done of Neon Indian’s ‘Local Joke’. He adds his own personality to the song, so much that it sounds as though he could have written it. I am looking forward to a full-length album from him.
