Don Rimini has released his first music video for the track Ohow? that is worth a view. This cat is blowing up and this track is bound to get the booties shaking.

The Death Set makes super-high-energy-dance-pop-punk music that is some of the best kind of music to dance to. Add their sound to that of the remix artists on Bang Gang and you have the perfect blend of remix goodness. Bang Gang has just released a 12″ that includes four remixes by Treasure Fingers, Bonde De Role, G.L.O.V.E.S. and Bumbblebeez as well as 4 original tracks by The Death Set themselves. This 12″ is packed with punk rock electro caffeine. I would have to say my favorite remix is of “Negative Thinking” by Treasure Fingers. Its feel is a bit dark for Treasure Fingers and has synth-tinged vocoder vocals. Check out this and some sample tracks…

I just got word that Justice’s highly anticipated and hyped documentary A Cross the Universe will be released exclusively on iTunes tomorrow along with thier live tour album. This is the first time iTunes has offered long form music video for download. The documentary that runs at just over an hour long is bundled with the album and can be downloaded for just $14.99. Having been to a couple of these events myself, just watching the clips and trailer from this documentary gives me goose bumps. I think I will be forced to purchase the download from iTunes, as well as the hard copy that will be released on December 9th (which is why they are doing this I am sure). To see brand new clips from the movie click read more below.
The time is running out on the Justice For All contest. The rules are pretty basic. Put together a video between 30 second and 3 minutes showing how “you were great in 2008″ and post in on Vimeo. It’s as simple as that. The contest is being judged by the Ed Banger crew themselves as well as the Industreate crew. There is over $6,000 in prizes up for grabs, including an all expenses paid trip to Chicago to hang out with Justice themselves and label mate/artist So Me. Get on it becasuse they are only accepting submissions until the end of this month!
There’s something to be said about a musician who can make instrumental music and keep your attention throughout an entire album. Skew succeeds with flying colors on his debut self-titled album that was released on the 11th of this month. The Rhode Island artist combines rock riffs, hip-hop beats and electronic clicks and synths. I hate to say it in fear that it will be oversaid, but some of Skew’s music reminded me somewhat of a grittier Ratatat. I would have to say my favorite tracks on the album are the ones that pack a little more punch. Such as “Running Wild” or “Implosion”, however some of the more mellow tracks really caught my attention too, like “Stadiums Are Ok Too” and “Shield Your Eyes”. Overall I would say Skew’s first full-length is a major success and I look forward to hearing more to come.

The people have spoken and MTV has answered, kinda. The “Music Television Network” is still not playing actual music videos on their channel, however they have done something that is almost better in my opinion. MTV Music seems to be a very nice answer to those who have been complaining about the abundance of reality TV junk that litters the channel that is known for killing the radio star. It is a simple, clean website that does exactly what it’s supposed to, makes music videos easily browsed and viewed. It’s not just recent music videos either. They have made available an enormous library of classics, new videos and videos that never would have been played on MTV anyway like The Presets, The Black Ghosts, and this live performance of “Hustler” by Simian Mobile Disco. Props to MTV, I can see my self using this website everyday.
Bloc Party released their new album Intimacy today (with cover art that looks somewhat like a PG version of MSTRKRFT’s “Bounce” cover). After hearing the track they released a little while back called “Flux”, and a bit later the track “Mercury”, I was pretty excited to hear the entire new LP of theirs. If you hear “Flux” before listening to this album it will give you a pretty good idea of what’s in store, on the faster tracks at least. Like the other albums by Bloc Party, Intimacy is a mix of both up-beat dance rock tunes, and slower tracks tinged with a bit of romance. Not to take away from the others, but surprisingly it was the less “dancey” tracks on this album that stood out in my mind. The track “Ion Square” was among my favorites. Others include “Zephyrus”, “Trojan Horse” and the synth heavy “Your Visits Are Getting Shorter” that almost seems purposely made to be remixed. There were a couple tracks I wasn’t completely impressed with, but in all the album lived up to my expectations. Bloc Party will always hold a special place in my heart.
Fresh of the press! Bang Gang Deejays has a new mix CD coming out today titled D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing, and in celebration have released a remix from the album. The track is a rework of The Presets‘ “Kicking and Screaming” and if the rest of the album is anything like this track I going to make your head explode.
With more bang for ya buck, the Bang Gang’s E Is For Edit remix of the track introduces a new level of dimensioneering and trance travel to your ears. This all Australian affair gives new life to the already amazing track, that will keep even the most resilient feet on the floor…

For those of you who are bummed out about the death of Muxtape, or even for those of you who never even used Muxtape… Favtape is going to change the way you listen to music. If you don’t know Muxtape, it was a very simple online playlist builder, allowing you to upload MP3s and share personal mixtapes. Favtape is a very similar concept as Muxtape, only gives you much more freedom. The cool thing that separates Favtape is that you don’t upload your music. Favtape searches sites that already have huge databases of music, so unlike Muxtape, there is no limit to the amount on songs your playlists can have. Not only that, but again unlike Muxtape, you can have multiple playlists. This was one of the main reasons I never really got into Muxtape, it really limited the personalization of your playlists. These features plus a handfull of others makes Favtape one of my “fav” new music websites.
With websites like Last.fm, Pandora and now Favtape I can see needing massive amounts of hard drive storage for your music becoming less necessary. Why waste all that space on your hard drive when you can build your own playlists and listen to it on demand for free?!
I made this little mixtape in a matter of minutes.
This just in… You may have heard this exclusive track in some of Le Castle Vania’s sets over the past few months. Apparently somehow the track leaked, so he is officially releasing it. The track titled “Zero Machine” features a sample from Smashing Pumpkins, and like always Le Castle Vania has used his super dark/heavy feel in it. And like always, this shit is bound to make the kids bang their heads.
Le Castle Vania has also started a side label under the name of Always Never which you should check out.
