Remix Rush :: Hot Pink Delorean do ZOMBIES!

l_99804b183db14bb3bb3919061f48e89f

So it has been a while since I have posted here at TheDopeFiend and I honestly can’t think of a better way to come back than to bring you this remix Hot Pink Delorean has done of Designer Drugs‘ ‘ZOMBIES!’. The original track is amazing to begin with. I didn’t think it anyone could have made it harder than it already is, but Hot Pink Delorean managed to take the ZOMBIES! and put there own evil metal twist on it that makes it a complete headbanger of a track. It literally game me goosebumps the first time hearing it. I suggest you download it now!

Remix Rush :: Kids At The Bar

Kids At The Bar

Kids At The Bar is a couple of guys from the midwest (Oklahoma City to be exact) who describe themselves “a mixture of electro, punk, hip-hop, and rock.” Hmm, sounds just about like every other DJ/Producer you run across these days. Truth be told trying to describe most dance music these days is nearly impossible because  artists are influenced by so many different styles of music. Regardless of how you discribe these remixes done by Kids At The Bar, they are sure to get the dance floor in a frenzy. The first one is of the highly-hyped Passion Pit’s track ‘Sleepyhead’, this one is a must listen. Kids At The Bar are playing at SXSW (along with the rest of the artists in the entire world) at the Purevolume House Party Wed March 18th.

New Cadence Weapon – Name Your Price

Cadence Weapon has a new release out available now for download at a “name your price” amount. Apparently the tracks on the album, titled Separation Anxiety, are available exclusively on the album. It’s pretty rare these days that an artist like this doesn’t release a bunch of tracks to the blogs before the album comes out. For that I give him props. Most of the album appears to be remixes, but Cadence Weapon has teamed up with production masters like A-trak, Herve, A1 Bassline and Sinden. I say head over and pay your price for what looks to be 20 worthy tracks. View the track list here.

Remix Rush :: Rave Is King

I know that I just barely posted a couple tracks by Le Castle Vania, but he just released a new remix that I have to share. The remix is of the track title “Rave is King” by Fukkk Off. The dark synths with the robotic-like vocals of the original track are perfect for someone like Le Castle Vania to remix. It almost sounds like a track he would produce on his own and not a remix. I really like the original as well. Have a listen.

Remix Rush :: Bounce

I’m not sure how I didn’t hear this track until now. One of the biggest dance floor bangers of the year, Bounce by MSTRKRFT, remixed by one of my favorite DJ/producer duos, The Bloody Beetroots. This rework contains all the bouncing-beat goodness that the original has, but the Bloody Beetroots have added their special hard-hitting ingredient taking it to the next level. The Buildup around three minutes to the song is just outright ridiculous. The Bloody Beetroots have done it yet again.

Lady Sovereign – I Got You Dancing

It has been quite some time since we have heard anything from the cute little Brit with a big attitude, miss Lady Sovereign. Her silence has been broken with the new single out appropriately titled “I Got You Dancing”. The track is tinged with a bit of her Garage/Grime sound that she is known for, but it also has a gritty electro synth sound. Apparently a Sinden remix of this track is on the way which I am excited to hear. I will keep you posted as soon as I get word on it.

Remix Rush :: The Death Set

The Death Set makes super-high-energy-dance-pop-punk music that is some of the best kind of music to dance to. Add their sound to that of the remix artists on Bang Gang and you have the perfect blend of remix goodness. Bang Gang has just released a 12″ that includes four remixes by Treasure Fingers, Bonde De Role, G.L.O.V.E.S. and Bumbblebeez as well as 4 original tracks by The Death Set themselves. This 12″ is packed with punk rock electro caffeine. I would have to say my favorite remix is of “Negative Thinking” by Treasure Fingers. Its feel is a bit dark for Treasure Fingers and has synth-tinged vocoder vocals. Check out this and some sample tracks…

Remix Rush :: Hey Girl, Hey Boy

Soulwax is making quite the buzz lately. Blog readers everywhere were nearly peeing their pants with anticipation for the release of the Soulwax remix of MGMT’s “Kids”. This is really nothing new though. Remixes of The Gossip’s “Standing in the Way of Control” and Klaxon’s “Gravity’s Rainbow” will go down as some of my favorite remixes of all time. Now they have released the remix of Chemical Brothers’ track “Hey Boy, Hey Girl that is just amazing. The gritty baseline in this remix is enough to make the hairs on the back on your neck stand up. I can only imagine what it would be like to see Soulwax live and listen to them perform these remixes they are putting out.

Remix Rush :: Shadows

I had been waiting years for the opportunity to see M83 perform live. I finally got the chance on my recent visit to San Francisco and I was absolutely blown away. M83 has consistently put out good album after good album, but has only done a handful of remixes. That’s why I was surprised to see his recent remix of Midnight Juggernauts. The thought of the two artists collaborating on something sounds quite unlikely, and I was unsure of how good it would be when I first heard about the remix. But when I heard the track I knew I shouldn’t have doubted M83’s ability to create a beautiful, airy, atmospheric soundscape of a remix. Granted it doesn’t sound that much like the original, but doesn’t change how good it is.

Remix Rush :: Divine

Sebastian Tellier has been in the electronic music game for years, making sexy beats supported by his smooth classic vocals. Tellier has collaborated with such artists as Mr. Oizo, Guy-Manuel De Hommem of French Electro forefathers Daft Punk, and more recently had remixes of his single “Divine” done by Donovan, Midnight Juggernaughts, Night Facilities and my personal favorite done by fellow Frenchman Danger. Danger, who has quite a an impressive remix resume (not to mention some of the coolest promo graphics I have seen), has done an excellent job of taking Tellier’s bouncy electro-pop jam and transforming it to a dance floor fist-pumper.

Remix Rush :: Talk Like That

There is not a single bad word that can be said about The Presets. They have now released two amazing albums and plenty of dance floor pleasing EPs and remixes. With their ever growing resume, having fellow Australians Miami Horror remix their track “Talk Like That” makes the resume that much more impressive. Miami Horror, who also have quite the remix tracklist, has taken the track and added their signature electro-disco touch. Those damn Aussies just keep putting out banger after banger and I hope they don’t stop coming.

Remix Rush :: Alice Practice

Crystal Castles is amazing. The wailing voice of Alice Glass, the 8-bit bleeps and unique electro-dance-punk sound is unlike any other. It surprises me there isn’t more good remixes of Crystal Castles, and until now I haven’t found one of “Alice Practice” that I like. Futurecop! has taken all the good parts of “Alice Practice” and chopped it up to dance perfection. With only a year of music production under his belt, the Manchester based artist has released a handful of great tracks (not to mention he has the coolest Myspace I have ever seen). This track is a bit different than the other 80s inspired tracks Futurecop!, but it’s just as good and it’s a remix begging to be set to repeat.

Remix Rush :: Monday

After hearing the recent release of LA based glitch master, edIT, he has quickly become one of my favorite producers. Surprisingly it wasn’t until I saw them perform at Coachella this year that I knew about his other group project The Glitch Mob. The crew have taken Nalepa’s track “Monday” and added their unmistakable, heavy-hitting, glitch-hop sound to it. Nalepa is known for his more downtempo/atmospheric music, but this track reworked by The Glitch Mob is anything but.

Remix Rush :: Go Back

Along with anyone else who loves hard-hitting Electro bangers, I have had my eye on Atlanta’s Le Castle Vania for quite some time. Since his remix of Snowden’s Black Eyes, Le Castle Vania has released good track after good track. His latest being a remix of GRUM’s heavy hitting Go Back. GRUM has also quickly become one of my favorite Electro producers, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to get their hands on this one to remix. Le Castle Vania is also 50% of DJ/producer duo Lies in Disguise who have been missing for a bit from the “blogosphere”, I am looking forward to new tracks coming from that project as well.

Hooray For Earth – Surrounded By Your Friends (Twin Shadow Remix)

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Twin_Shadow

Twin Shadow has been making some waves throughout the internets lately. I recently purchased his new album Forget, and I must say I quite like it. I am also really liking this remix he has done for Hooray For Earth, who I had never heard of before this song, but will surely be checking them out after hearing it.

Muscles – Girl Crazy Go (Muscles Inception Remix)

Monday, October 18th, 2010

musclesyim

The last I heard of Muscles he had quit the music business because of problems with his label Modular. This disappointed me because I love his music. However, I was happy to see that if the rumors were true at the time he has apparently changed his mind. A new EP by Muscles titled Younger & Immature is due out October 29.

Here’s a remix of the first single from the EP ‘Girl Crazy Go’. Check out the music video for the original version here. From the sounds of it Muscles hasn’t lost his musical touch, or his ego.

Sleigh Bells – Run the Heart (Bassnectar Remix)

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Sleigh+Bells+sleighbells1

Music by Bassnectar isn’t something I would normally post here. For the most part I feel his stuff is for dirty rave hippies, and if you read this blog at all you probably know how I feel about the wobbly bass-heavy Dubstep. That being said this remix done of Sleigh Bells‘ song ‘Run the Heart’ is still bass-heavy, but not completely overboard. It also manages to keep a lot of what makes the original track so good.

Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette – Hello

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

dragonette-martin

Chances are if you spend any amount of time on the internet you have heard ‘Hello’ by Martin Solveig featuring the lovely Dragonette (considering it went number one on Hype Machine). But I couldn’t resist posting this super-fun dance-pop masterpiece. It’s basically impossible not to want to dance to this song. I don’t know a lot about Martin Solveig, but from what I have heard and seen so far I am liking his stuff. Purchase the EP with several remixes on Beatport now.

Millionyoung – Local Joke (Neon Indian Cover)

Friday, October 1st, 2010

million-young

Millionyoung, aka Mike Diaz, is shaping up to be one of my favorite artist of 2010. I really love this cover he has done of Neon Indian’s ‘Local Joke’. He adds his own personality to the song, so much that it sounds as though he could have written it. I am looking forward to a full-length album from him.
