I have really been enjoying the music of Baths lately. Here is a remix done of ‘Post Atmosphere’ by Shlohmo that has some really nice glitchy beats. I am always down for some well-done glitches, blips, bleeps or other electronic sounds.

Salem is one of those music acts that you don’t quite know how to feel about, and don’t even begin to know how to categorize. Dreamy electronic beats with female vocals and sometimes distorted rapping.  At times dark and scary, at times beautiful, but quite always strange. Check out their video for the track ‘Dirt’ and you will know what I mean.

Morr Music has released a few new t-shirts in their online shop. The designs are pretty much exactly what you would expect from Morr, which is a good thing. Simple, yet fun and interesting.

Earlier this month my good friend in Shanghai, R3, shared this five minute journey of a track with me. It’s difficult to even begin to categorize this unique song. Sort of an upbeat darkwave sound. I really love the breakdown around two minutes in. R3 is one of the most talented producers I know and he continues to improve his skills. I look forward to a full length album from him. Hint hint.

With each remix released by Computer Blue I increasingly become more impressed. On this remix of The Rapture’s song ‘Echoes’ they take a fairly standard dance rock hit and manage to keep all the great things about the song, and add an electro twist that only makes it better. The wailing vocals are perfect for a dance floor banger, and the intro just kicks complete ass.

The art of CD cover design has nearly joined the art of record cover design and is all but gone. However, there are still a few people out there doing some pretty amazing designs with their CD releases. Like this design by Pišta Kráľovič for his band The Uniques.

I have been back in the country for a bit now, but I am just getting the chance to rummage through my inbox and check out all the stuff I have gotten. That being said, I am probably a bit late on these remixes of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘One’ but I still had to post them. The first remix by Congorock and the second by Chewy Chocolate Cookies. Both are party-starters and equally as dance floor worthy.

I am pretty sure I have posted about 8tracks before, but recently they updated their interface a bit and I have had a renewed love for the site. The website’s simple, elegant website allows for users to create, share and listen to mixes compiled of all genres of music. A great way to discover new stuff.

Today I got a submission in my inbox that had nothing more than a link to this amazing music video for ‘Wild Boys’ by Jef Barbara. Many videos that try to replicate that retro 80s look fail miserably, but this video was either really shot with a super-old VHS camera, or the effects were very well-done. The previous wouldn’t surprise me considering his debut album is only being released on cassette. Awesome!
