There’s something to be said about a musician who can make instrumental music and keep your attention throughout an entire album. Skew succeeds with flying colors on his debut self-titled album that was released on the 11th of this month. The Rhode Island artist combines rock riffs, hip-hop beats and electronic clicks and synths. I hate to say it in fear that it will be oversaid, but some of Skew’s music reminded me somewhat of a grittier Ratatat. I would have to say my favorite tracks on the album are the ones that pack a little more punch. Such as “Running Wild” or “Implosion”, however some of the more mellow tracks really caught my attention too, like “Stadiums Are Ok Too” and “Shield Your Eyes”. Overall I would say Skew’s first full-length is a major success and I look forward to hearing more to come.
