Twin Shadow has been making some waves throughout the internets lately. I recently purchased his new album Forget, and I must say I quite like it. I am also really liking this remix he has done for Hooray For Earth, who I had never heard of before this song, but will surely be checking them out after hearing it.

The last I heard of Muscles he had quit the music business because of problems with his label Modular. This disappointed me because I love his music. However, I was happy to see that if the rumors were true at the time he has apparently changed his mind. A new EP by Muscles titled Younger & Immature is due out October 29.

Here’s a remix of the first single from the EP ‘Girl Crazy Go’. Check out the music video for the original version here. From the sounds of it Muscles hasn’t lost his musical touch, or his ego.

Music by Bassnectar isn’t something I would normally post here. For the most part I feel his stuff is for dirty rave hippies, and if you read this blog at all you probably know how I feel about the wobbly bass-heavy Dubstep. That being said this remix done of Sleigh Bells‘ song ‘Run the Heart’ is still bass-heavy, but not completely overboard. It also manages to keep a lot of what makes the original track so good.

Several months ago I posted the track ‘Alright’ by an artist who goes by the name of Hard Mix. That track was pretty mellow compared to a more recent release of his called ‘Memories’, which has a more solid dance beat. While this track may be a bit more uptempo from his other stuff, in some ways it feels almost darker and heavier in its mood. Regardless I am still loving it.

It has been an awfully long time since I have heard something new from The Russian Futurists, but I can say I was happy to hear a new album titled The Weights On the Wheels is coming on November 16th. This is the first single from the ablum called ‘Hoeing Weeds Sowing Seeds’. It sounds much like their older stuff, which is a good thing. There is also a remix EP done for the track including the original and three remixes available now here.

Chillwave, dreampop, psych R’n'B… whatever you call the sound this has been the Summer of fuzzy synths, tropical sounding beach music that warms the soul. And I love it. Visions of Trees is some of my favorite I have heard of this genre. Especially this track ‘Sometimes It Kills’. The beautiful female vocals and fuzzy, dreamy beats are nothing short of heavenly. I can’t wait to hear more from this English duo. Also head over to Vice to hear a mixtape Visions of Trees have put together for them.

Salem is one of those music acts that you don’t quite know how to feel about, and don’t even begin to know how to categorize. Dreamy electronic beats with female vocals and sometimes distorted rapping.  At times dark and scary, at times beautiful, but quite always strange. Check out their video for the track ‘Dirt’ and you will know what I mean.

Earlier this month my good friend in Shanghai, R3, shared this five minute journey of a track with me. It’s difficult to even begin to categorize this unique song. Sort of an upbeat darkwave sound. I really love the breakdown around two minutes in. R3 is one of the most talented producers I know and he continues to improve his skills. I look forward to a full length album from him. Hint hint.

With each remix released by Computer Blue I increasingly become more impressed. On this remix of The Rapture’s song ‘Echoes’ they take a fairly standard dance rock hit and manage to keep all the great things about the song, and add an electro twist that only makes it better. The wailing vocals are perfect for a dance floor banger, and the intro just kicks complete ass.

Last night I saw Delorean in concert. As I expected they were amazing, but I was also impressed by one of the opening acts Glasser. Glasser was one of those artists in my music library who I had listened to, filed away and forgotten to check into further. That is until I saw her performance last night. Nacey is a duo out of Washington D.C. that not only are a part of the city’s biggest club night, but have also been making waves as producers over the past couple years. This remix they have done of ‘Steppin’ Up’ from M.I.A.’s latest album isn’t exactly a dance floor banger, but good nevertheless. It’s got a cool melodic piano track and hard-hitting head-bobbing bassline. The duo recently released a seven track EP titled Time Run Out and is available now here.

Modular artists Tame Impala just released their debut album InnerSpeaker last month. The song ‘Solitude is Bliss’ from the album has been remixed by the UK producer Mickey Moonlight and has a nice groove to it.
