Skybox – In A Dream
Chicago band Skybox isn’t really pushing the limits in any direction one way or another. From the sound of the few tracks I have heard they are doing just good ol’ Indie Pop. Which isn’t a bad thing, they are doing it well. Although, I did find it a bit odd that The Hood Internet took a stab at remixing their song ‘In A Dream’. And even more strange they didn’t really change it up too much. But I enjoyed both tracks and their laid-back summer feel.

Wave Machines – Keep the Lights On (Home Video Remix)
Here is an 80s tinged remix coming from Brooklyn duo Home Video. The remix is of ‘Keep the Lights On’ from UK band Wave Machines. Home Video has changed up the track quite a bit with a fuzzy, synth driven head-bobber. The original is also worth a listen and is available over on RCRDLBL.

Mason feat. DMC and Sam Sparro – Corrected
Amsterdam based DJ and production team Mason has just released their new single ‘Corrected’. The track features vocals from hip-hop legend DMC and soulful support by Sam Sparro. Here’s a couple remixes of the track by Alex Gopher and Freaky Friday to get you up and going this hump day morning. Also for all the producers out there Mason is making available the stems for ‘Corrected’ so you can take a shot at remixing the track yourself.

Matt Van Schie – Journey Remixes
Matt Van Schie (yes, of Modular’s Van She) has released a solo EP called Balmy Nights consisting of four summer-soaked tracks. In addition to the EP several artists are featured on a remix album called Versions. Here are a couple remixes of ‘Journey’ the most recent single from the album. One by Teenagersintokyo who I recently mentioned here on TheDopeFiend, and one by another band making some very summer-ish tunes Memory Tapes.

Light Asylum – Shallowtears (Teengirl Fantasy Big Room Mix)
It’s a bit difficult trying to describe the kind of music Teengirl Fantasy Makes. They have shared the stage with the likes of Neon Indian, Pictureplane and Telepathe if that gives you a general idea of their style. Here is a remix they have done of an artist called Light Asylum that is about as undefinable as they come. I have also thrown in one of their original track as a bonus that I really like called ‘Portofino’.

Dirty Super Car – Get A Grip (VIP Edit)
Not too long ago Loops of Fury released a remix of Dirty Super Car’s track ‘Get A Grip’. This time Dirty Super Car hits us with his very own VIP edit of the track and hits us hard. The heavy ‘whomping’ basslines remind me of something that might come from Proxy. The original version of ‘Get A Grip’ is available on iTunes now.

Hard Mix – Alright
Hard Mix is an artist from Greenville, South Carolina making some really beautiful music one might compare to Beach House, Delorean or Tanlines. I really like this song by him called ‘Alright’ (originally found on Flux-rad’s mix Friend of the Night) that has very soulful vocals accompanied by twinkling electronic elements. Keep your eye out for his full length album coming out later this year titled In and Out of My Life. Also check out the video for one of his other songs called ‘You Are Gold’.

Night Kids – Thrasher
So I know I just posted about them not too long ago, but it would be wrong if I didn’t put up this track released yesterday by Night Kids. It’s called ‘Thrasher’ and it does nothing if not live up to that name. But I feel like these guys are trying to do something different than just your typical bangers. You really wouldn’t expect the melodic piano breakdown halfway through this song, but they make it work. Looking forward to seeing what Night Kids have in store for us next.

The Chemical Brothers – Swoon (Don Diablo Remix)
The Chemical Brothers have a new album dropping soon called Further. This will be their seventh studio album and they continue to evolve and grow as artists. I heard and saw the video for their first single from the album ‘Swoon’ the other day and quite liked it. Here’s a remix of the ‘Swoon’ done by Don Diablo that has a dreamy kind of feel to it. It sounds quite a bit like the original but a bit more beat oriented.

TV On the Radio – Red Dress (The Glitch Mob Remix)
Not really sure how I let this one slip past my radar. This remix that appears to have been released early last year The Glitch Mob did for TV On The Radio is amazing. The hard hitting glitch-hop sound couldn’t have been done better on this track.

Kylesa – Scapegoat (Mustard Pimp Remix)
You can always count on French duo Mustard Pimp for a big ol’ dose of face-melting heaviness. This remix of ‘Scapegoat’ by Kylesa is about as heavy as they get. Considering Kylesa is a metal rock band from Savannah, Georgia it seems like an unlikely collaboration, but the vocals on this remix and the heavy synths are perfect together. These guys are consistently putting out good tracks and I am looking forward to their new EP Rock Paper Scissors coming out on Dim Mak Records June 29th.

Yeasayer – O.N.E. (Crystal Vision Remix)
The other day I posted a remix of Yeasayer’s ‘O.N.E.’ done by Them Jeans. His remix was fairly similar to the original and it worked nicely. Here’s another remix of the same track done by Crystal Vision (friends of fellow Oklahoma City natives Kids at the Bar). This remix changes things up a bit more adding a heavier electro feel to it, but is also done quite well.

I am probably a bit late on this one, but I just heard this remix of Empire of the Sun done by Hey Today! and really liked it. This remix is quite a bit different from the laid back sound of the original. In this case that’s not a bad thing.

Them Jeans has reworked one of Yeasayer’s best songs ‘O.N.E.’ and has done a really good job. I like how he didn’t mess too much with what makes the song really good. He has added slight dancey, laid back elements which compliment the original nicely.
