Anymore these days I listen to NPR more than almost anything else (maybe it’s because I am getting old). This is why the NPR Radio by Livio caught my eye. The idea is a simple one, which is many times a good thing. The radio broadcasts NPR via WIFI and allows you to bookmark your favorite programs. Also a portion of the proceeds actually go to NPR.
For many the pursuit to find new music is endless, and luckily enough, so is the amount of music. Internet radio is a great way to find new music, and I was recently tuned-in to Genre Now Radio presented by aNYthing (who’s clothes are also worth a look) in partnership with Splay. Genre Now Radio plays a wide variety of indie rock, indie-pop, hip-hop, grime, electronic with an East Coast feel. Pretty much just good music, not focusing on all this genre/sub-genre bullshit.
In one of the new HP Notebook ads (which are all done very well by the way), master producer Pharrell says “art is like music for your eyes”, I completely agree. Musicians tend to have a keen eye for art, and artists for music. That’s why I thing The Designers Mixtape is such a cool idea. Brought to you by Nitrocorpz Design, The Designers Mixtape asks designers from all around the globe to put together a playlist of the music that inspires them. The playlists are posted and available for listening. I think it’s really interesting to see the different genres designers use for inspiration.
